The second thought
Comparing ourselves to people we don’t even know
Envious of all the love they no doubt possess
Their loving, so called friends and many pets
Couldn’t care less if it is a joke, or a canny test
Thinking twice before we make a simple move
First the you - one then the other, named the twin
How can anyone achieve the smallest thing?
Wanting to belong to a group we deep down hate
Trying to open our hearts, when there never was a gate
Chocking on food, a dog will bury, just being smart
Reckoning we’re balanced, when we actually fall apart
Behind the mask no more a human, or a face
Only a doppelganger doing what he does best
Pretending to be you, and you’re not even being born
Leaving you torn between, or perhaps just torn
Life slips on its fancy suit and tie for the two
One more gala evening, then recollecting twice
An ordinary couple getting ready for the night
Soon to separate, as the double takes his nightly flight
